ROWLING CLASS ART PROJECT

Symmetry in art is when the elements of a painting or drawing balance each other out. This could be the objects themselves, but it can also relate to colours and other compositional techniques.

Symmetry and asymmetry are both important compositional qualities and can be used to highlight the contrast or the relationships between the elements of your composition. Neither implies good or poor composition – visual balance can be achieved in both cases.

Rowling Class has developed a symmetry project around Harry Potter’s characters so they can decorate their new classroom next academic year. The results are quite amazing.

Next week they will be doing cardboard frames for their work.
